Concepcion rises to very high altitudes for Guatemala’s latitude, yet the environment is forgiving, with warm winds coming from the Gulf of Mexico in the east, along the Motagua river valley. One can see the valley far below from the farm’s steep slopes. 2017 is a particularly fine year for this complex coffee.

Bernardo is the third generation in his family who has worked this land with coffee. He has also purchased more land to increase his production. His background as an agronomist has helped him with agricultural management, helping him in achieving great quality and consistency in his coffees year after year.

The area of San Martin generally has very clear-cut seasons. This leads to a single flowering and very even ripening, a great advantage for producing all-ripe coffee translating to sweetness in the cup.
