Puerta Verde (Green Door) is located in the famed Valley of Antigua. It lies at the base of Volcan de Agua; the farm is flat with a grid of channels cutting through to allow proper drainage during the rainy season.
Puerta Verde is owned by the Minondo family since the end of the XIXth century and is managed by Ricardo Zelaya. Ricardo also manages San Augustin and Antigua's Jauja farms which we had the pleasure of offering two years ago. He manages the coffee trees with great attention to detail from pruning, to shade to nutrition.
The coffee trees are fully shaded with Gravellia (called Gravilea in Latin America) trees.
Our lot is small and is 100% Bourbon variety. We chose it for its exceptional cup quality. The beans were washed and soaked in the adjoining Santa Clara farm.
