Coffee Review

Tasting Notes:
lime, tangerine, green apple

This small lot of La Bendición delivers an intense, sweet lime with a touch of tangerine flavor layered in a very mellow creamy fruit compote, created by traces of heated coffee cherry notes seeping into the beans during post-harvest processing.

Huehuetenango is a spectacular region of steep, sharp-toothed mountains and narrow valleys. Warm winds from the hot Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Mexico, to the north, flow through narrow north-south valleys which branch east-west, warming the mountainsides and allowing coffee growth at far higher altitudes than would ordinarily be possible for such northern latitudes.

La Bendición is owned by Edelfo Hidalgo who lives year long with his family on the farm. It is situated on a mountain ridge with east-west orientation receiving mainly the morning sun.

This is a coffee which we cupped only after leaving Guatemala but which we fell in love with. We will be certain to visit Mr. Hidalgo this coming harvest!
