Finca Buenavista has delicate, complex notes of intertwining pineapple and pomegranate enlivened with a touch of lime.

This is an exceptional microlot of coffee, highlighting sweet, complex, tropical and even minty notes. This Caturra variety is produced in the Narino region of the Colombian Andes. We have yet to find these notes in larger lots. The farmer, Melky Chavez, lives coffee. He is the third generation coffee producer of his four-acre high altitude family farm.

Elevated mountains separated by canyons and rivers make this land one of Colombia’s most beautiful and inaccessible. Seen way below the town of Inzá is a pyramid amidst the jumble of heaving mountains; it is far too huge to be made by humans but its shape did not escape the original inhabitants’ awe, who created a tomb that is now a UNESCO World heritage site.

Most of the coffee grown here is Caturra, a variety that is particularly expressive of the terroir here. The farms average about two acres each and every farmer processes there own coffee, to be assessed for quality at the Association.
